From May 18 to 21, the Institute of Plant Protection of the NAAS hosted advanced training courses for researchers from the institutions of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine and scientific and pedagogical workers of agricultural higher education institutions of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine on the topic of «Integrated Plant Protection and Quarantine», which were attended remotely by scientists of the NSC «V.Ye. Tairov Institute of Viticulture and Winemaking»

During the courses, participants were introduced to current issues of the phytosanitary state of agrocenoses, modern approaches to integrated plant protection, biological and chemical methods of controlling harmful organisms, issues of plant quarantine, as well as modern trends in the development of organic farming. Considerable attention was paid to the problems of the impact of global climate change on the dynamics of the number of pests and the spread of crop diseases.

During the lectures, the issues of predicting the phytosanitary state of agrocenoses, methods for identifying the main diseases of field crops, modern approaches to monitoring quarantine organisms, pesticide control in agrocenoses, as well as the use of biological preparations and entomopathogenic microorganisms in plant protection systems were considered. Special attention was paid to the protection of grain, fruit, citrus crops, grapes, potatoes, soybeans, strawberries, raspberries, apples and nuts from harmful organisms.

Also, the issues of genetic plant protection, the current state of genetically modified plants, the role of biological protection methods in stabilizing agroecosystems and environmentally safe technologies in agriculture were discussed within the framework of the training.

Participation in such events contributes to the improvement of the professional competence of scientists, the exchange of experience between specialized institutions and the implementation of modern scientific approaches in the field of plant protection and ensuring phytosanitary safety of the agricultural sector of Ukraine.
